# How to name your part

# Overview

Stock part names follow this pattern (where some sections only make sense in some contexts): `<type>_<size>_<feature>_<resource>_<cardinal>_<name>`.

You should always prepend the name of your mod to the name of your part: `<modId>_<type>_<size>_<feature>_<resource>_<cardinal>_<name>`.

As an example: `mybigenginemod_engine_4v_methalox_bigboom` would be a good name for an XL methalox engine called “Big Boom” in a mod called “My Big Engine Mod”.
